While Windows will allow users your computer operating system (Windows, Mac, Linux) allows you to create and name files with a variety of special characters and symbols, this is not always optimal when using these files in other if you intend to use or share the file between multiple operating systems, services (such as Canvas), or 3rd party applications.

To avoid these types of compatibility issues when bringing files into Canvas or other 3rd party applications, it is recommended to avoid using the following in your file naming conventions:
